My name is Jimmy. I realized that I had a gambling problem.

I was suffering a lot inside. When you get to the point where you have to hide because you’re afraid that people will come knocking on your door. When it gets to the point where you don’t want to leave home because you’re afraid of running into someone you owe money to. When it gets to the point where the only solution you see is suicide. Suicide is a permanent reaction to a temporary situation.

A few years after I stopped gambling, I still have challenges and face storms, but I can face them because I see things clearly now. Gambling is no longer a solution for me.

I want to live, I want to see my kids grow up. Today I have a stable job, I have a spouse, I can keep my friends.
There’s always a way out, there are people around us who can help us, who have the abilities, the skills. If you need to get out of it, if you take steps to get into therapy, talk, vent, say everything you need to say, and you’ll see that things will get better.
